This is something that I found at Newgrounds awhile back.
It is making a person's trolling comment into very funny typographic animation.
I don't know the game that was reviewed specifically, but I just know that this was a major hit.
I hope that some of you take the time to watch this as it is a good break from the workload yet it is also Type related.
Tell me what you think if you watch it.

Animator's own comments

"I wanted to try my hand at a typography animation, so I figured I'd give it a whirl with one of my favorite voice acting tracks in the audio portal: Dmac's "Dot Dot Dot", based on a review of Super PSTW Action RPG, created by Rhete.
* Thanks a million, Tom, for the FP! :D
** The background track is from Carl Orff's 'O Fortuna' (1935)"

"May, 18, 2009 : Super PSTW Action RPG is released by Rhete
February, 3, 2010 : Axman13 reviews Super PSTW
February, 4, 2010 : Dot Dot Dot (narration of Axman's review) by D-Mac-Double
January, 6, 2011 : Ricepirate animates Dot Dot Dot

In an age where the anonymous reviewer is held to no general standard of grammar or spelling, an intelligible trolling rant is a common and often eye-rolling occurrence. And when a game is meant as a parody of its genre, and a player playing it doesn't quite get the joke ... well, magic happens.

But the real triumph, is when an epic voice actor decides to perform a run-of-the-mill game review rant ... committing to all its grammatical belligerence.

I present to you, Dot Dot Dot — Animated. I hop uyo enjo it".

'Riddler's' Typography Assignment (Part 2)

Comparing these to last weeks', I feel like I am making some improvement here. My head is sort of 'dead' right now and cannot think of the last one (I don't even know which one that I am missing right now) BUT I do feel like the ones that I have done are a great improvement. I feel kind of happy right now actually....IF ONLY IT WASN'T SO FREAKING LATE RIGHT NOW THOUGH THEN IT WOULD BE SUPER =__=

'Riddler's' Typography Assignment

I decided to call this the 'Riddler' due to it being an experiment with no clear solutions. In this experiment, we are meant to show the principles and elements of design in Typography. It is a bit flustering as the hints are not even clear enough to get an answer, but perhaps there is no true answer to this at all. I know that this assignment is meant for us to think of a letter more as an image than just something that materialistically written, but perhaps the reason why we are redoing it is because it gives us a chance to think even further about how to show the principles. Perhaps you will never actually get a PERFECT answer to this and there is always room for improvement in presenting them. Heh....saying this, I hope that that doesn't mean that we are going to have to keep redoing the letters over and over again during the whole semester, but I highly doubt that actually happening. PLEASE tell me that I am right on that, I have written the letter 'N' so many times now that I think that I can easily write it without the use of a template or even write it with my eyes closed =__=

Anyways, here are my roughs from last week.

Where's Typo? (Part II)

Lowercase 'b'
I am sure that we have all seen these before at some point (and if you really haven't then you need to get into the kitchen more often), this is a measuring cup. The ones that you have seen could have been plastic, but mine are metal. Couldn't tell you what cup size this is, but by the looks of it I am guessing it is either 1/3 or 1/2. The next time you see one of these though, be sure to lay it on it's side as you will be able to notice that it actually looks like a lowercase 'b' with the line at the top and the round end looking just like the end of the 'b'.

Lowercase 'f'
This is part of a curly straw. When bent and curved to the side, it makes an 'j' BUT I wanted to go a step further and make it into a 'f' by sticking a toothpick right in the middle of it. I have forgotten if you are allowed to make letters with different objects together or not so if I am wrong on this then I will make it just into a 'j'.

Uppercase 'Y'
As I started messing with the toothpick to get a lowercase 'f', I figured that I might as well only use toothpicks to make one letter too. This is what I came up with.

Uppercase 'Z'
As I said before, working out is an important part of my schedule. It is the first thing that makes up my day, makes me feel top notch, and up beat. Lifting weights is the second part of my exercise routine. We have a workout machine at our home so it makes working out very convenient for me. This part of the machine is to work your arms, there is a lever attached the handle which makes it go lower. You sit on the chair and then you lift the weights up. You can also adjust the chair to work different parts of your arms. Well, that is enough talking about the object itself. If you look closely, the two bars going horizontally and the one bar going vertically creates a 'Z'

Complaint Section of My Blog

Today, we were mostly just frustrated and confused with this whole project. Writing this right now, I don't even want to think about it. While we were joking, we came up with two analogies.

"It's like we are in a maze and she gives us a map and it's blank."

"It's like I am a pig in a forest and I am trying to find my way home."
"Fortunately, pigs have a good sense of smell. They also smell very good so have fun running away from the wolfies."

While going to the teacher, I had asked her if you can get rid of part of the letter. She just stopped walking, froze a little and then gave me this look as if it were obvious enough and as if I were a complete dolt.
So, yeah - my self confidence is at it's GREATEST peak right now

Where's Typo? (Part I)

While browsing through my kitchen, I came across these...

Uppercase 'D'
The refrigerator doors serve as a great source for the capital letter 'D'.
Some trivial information about the fridge is that it is one of those electric fridges. I don't drink from my own sink anymore. At least not when I can have filtered water from the fridge. I am sure that most of you do the same exact thing.

Uppercase 'E'
When looking at a fork, there are three segments all coming from one point. The same can be found in the letter 'E'. This fork is a serving fork, we don't actually eat with forks of this size.

Lowercase 'i'
As you can probably tell from the bottom, this is a bottle carrier. The lowercase 'i' can be found at the top, notice how there is a round object to make the dot and a line in the middle.

Lowercase 'x'
In the mornings during the week, I make myself a shake. I have found it to be really good and it works great with my daily routine of training. One morning, I was looking from a bird's eye angle at the blender and found that the blade is a perfect 'x'.

Slime Against Divine: An Example of Good Typography and Bad Typography

Bad Text

When looking at this text, I cannot help but have to squint my eyes to be able to read it. Granted, my eyes have always been very poor (I do not wear glasses as some kind of 'fashion statement'), but it isn't because of the scale of the font. It is because of the poor craftsmanship of the font; it is far too blurry. When I read something, I want to be able to read it from any distance that I go by to read it and if I cannot even read it when the tip of my nose is touching the paper then something is definitely wrong there. Now, perhaps this is due to poor printing, but I do not accept that as a viable reason for such poor work. If you are to try and advertise then you MUST be able to give everything in the most presentable way that you can. The majority of readers or should I say 'glimpsers' are not going to want to take five minutes to try and read a title when it should only take two seconds to do so.

Another thing that I have to criticize on is the poor choice of color. I have never been very fond of bright colors, but I do not believe that this is a matter of personal preference on my part. This is just a matter of fact that the two colors are not complimentary to each other. One could consider that it would cost a bit more to try and find a color that compliments orange, BUT then why choose the color orange in the first place? The most common and most usable color is Black so why should you stray away from it?

Good Text

Now let's take a look at THIS font. The transition from looking at such a blurry mess to this is probably a relief to the eyes I am sure. WHY do I love this typography so much? Perhaps it is because it is simple yet it also gives a bold statement. Something that I have learned in design from my last class is that a design does not need to be 'complicated' to be able to get attention. In fact, it is rather the opposite; simplicity means success. This fact can be seen very clearly in this as it is proudly showing professionalism.

The color choice is something that my I love. As I was leading onto earlier, I have always preferred darker colors over bright ones. But that is neither here nor there, the colors of 'black and white' do compliment each other much more than 'white and orange'. If our earlier example was 'blue' instead of 'white' then it would have been complimentary. But examples of how greatly black and white fit together can even be found in nature as the white tiger, dalmatian, husky, and panda bear are all beautiful creatures

Reason For Execution (i.e: Why Do I Want To Be Here?)

My reason for starting this class is simple, it is so that I may excel.

Art has always been one of my biggest hobbies. Ever since I can remember, I used to draw monsters. I used to want to be a video game artist, but I had found out that making my art digitally through the means of programs like 3D Studio Max was not the thing for me. Eventually I had learned of the Adobe programs and took a class on it in SCROC which had introduced me to a completely new field of work to me known as 'Graphic Design'.

This was all done last year and I had just graduated last year. My main goal should be to take general education classes BUT I am someone that does not like to miss an opportunity if I see one. Last Semester I had chosen a challenging class known as Introduction to 2D Basics. It was a great experience and the teacher that was teaching me is someone that I highly look up to. After finishing her class, she had recommended me to a few classes and she told me that she really wants me to take 'Typography'.

And so here I am. During my time here, I wish to be able to learn all that I can. I want to be able to see all the avenues of both old and new that Art has to offer me. Typography seems like something that I would be interested in. I would love to make a bold logo and make my own font. Not only that, but I am expecting to learn what the fundamentals of a GOOD typeface is and what I want to avoid doing so that I do not make a BAD typeface.

I have the will to take on anything - I am ready to take this class.
